Collegiate Ministry at TVCC
Jerry Joe Dennis, Director
Greetings Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
We have so much for which to be thankful to God. I will begin by saying that we thank God for our Lord, Jesus Christ, our soon coming King. Thank the Lord for Dogwood Trails Association, each church, the executive director, Bro. Lee Welch and his staff, every Pastor and his staff, and all of the ladies who lead out in serving our students on Tuesday and Thursday, for you are invaluable.
The Collegiate Ministry had a wonderful year, closing out the spring semester serving an average of 175 students each Tuesday and 175 each Thursday. Our hearts rejoice that 10 college students went on mission trips—most to China, 3 students went to work at Riverbend Camp during the summer months and several worked at Rockin-C- Ranch.
The Fall 2010 semester is off to one of the best starts ever because a young Islamic man accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Praise God! In addition, the ministry is currently averaging about 180 students being served at the center on Tuesday and Thursday, our highest day single day in September we served 197. The most rewarding fact is that students are responding to the Word of God. They are asking questions when the speaker completes their 3 to 4 devotionals on Tuesday and Thursday. Mark Rogers is teaching Old and New Testament on campus and we are seeing a positive response to the Word. Mark also is serving 65 to 75 students each Wednesday on the Palestine campus.
The needs are for prayer, more prayer and then take time to come to the campus of TVCC to pray, teach and serve college students. Every time you think of us pray. As humans who are forgetful, may we offer a way to remember the Collegiate Ministry in prayer? When you get home, take a piece of paper, write PRAY FOR COLLEGIATE MINISTRY on it and tape it to the side of your bathroom mirror. Each time you look at your pretty faces, you will see the reminder to pray.
Bound for Glory.
